Boston Love Letter

Dear Boston,

We have been together for a while now, about 23 years, where has the time gone?  I have to say that I am just as enamored with you now as I was that day I went to see my very first Red Sox game at beloved Fenway Park.  I remember riding the bus along the Mass Pike and getting the first glimpse of the Boston skyline.  I knew then that I needed to move here.

I don’t want to overinflate your ego, Boston, but you really have a little bit of everything: charming neighborhoods, restaurants boasting the top chefs, amazing bars, great architecture (ahem, The Manor, case in point), the BEST sports teams, and how about that history?  America was born here!  It is a quick drive to the beach and a tad further to some really great skiing.  I wouldn’t hate it if it snowed a tad less, but I won’t let that get in the way of our multi-decade love affair.

Most importantly, you produced 10, well eleven if I’m being corny, of my favorite guys.  New Edition and New Kids on the Block will always be my true loves.  Joey, Jordan, Jon, Danny and Donnie got me through some pretty awkward teen years.

If I could ask you to do something for me after all of the loyalty I have shown you over these years, it would be great if you could quit closing down the good dive bars.  Not all of us need to drink overpriced booze and eat “small plates” with exposed brick and duct work.

Always yours,

Connie B
